Protein is the most important building component of our body and it is the substance which helps us to build our tissues, fibers and muscles. Children are advised to take in huge amounts of protein in their growing-up years as it helps in building strong muscles and promotes growth. For those who are keen on maintaining a healthy body, are associated with sports and other outdoor activities, the intake of proteins is a must. Protein supplements are usually taken in powdered form and they are taken before or after a heavy exercise. Heavy protein supplements in the form of protein bars are also available and they are usually taken instead of a meal.

Glutamine: There are quite a few protein supplements available in the market but the most common supplement recommended by the physicians is the Glutamine. It is a form of amino acid found in the human muscle and research shows that it depletes very rapidly from the human muscles, making them ache and strain. Body builders should make it a point to consume this supplement in adequate amounts, or else the deficiency is likely to cause weakness and soreness of the muscles. High exercise and no nutrition is bound to make the body fatigued, resulting in lower immunity and injuries are also likely to heal slowly.

Some other form of protein supplements may be taken which are organic in nature, affordable and very easily available.
Whey Protein: Whey protein can be consumed by people of all ages. It should be always be kept in mind that protein is difficult to digest than any other form of nutrient and to children and patients, it should always be given in an easily digestible form. Whey protein is very light and is easily absorbed by the blood stream. It is rich in all kinds of amino acids, especially cysteine, which is important for the biosynthesis of glutathione, an extremely essential component to boost the immune system in our body.
Casein Protein: It is a form of milk protein and is considered the richest source of glutamine. This is an excellent supplement for recovering patients and is also rich in casomorphin which aids in absorbing other amino acids into the blood stream, increasing protein intake of the body.
Soy Protein and Hemp Seeds: These kinds of protein are a boon to the vegans, as they cannot consume milk proteins either. It is also rich in essential amino acids and contains isoflavones. Hemp- seed protein is again a very easily digestible form of protein and hemp oil is considered very rich in all types of amino acids and essential fatty acids, very important to our immune system.
